Training tip with the restaurant blanket

Train the use of the restaurant blanket at home so that the dog is already used to the blanket in the restaurant. At home, lay the blanket flat on the floor first and reward any positive interaction between your dog and the blanket (even eye contact can be rewarded with treats). Rewards for interactions are only given on the blanket itself. Then you repeat the training. If the dog stays on the blanket, you can reward the dog with two or three more treats.

After a few training sessions, the time between the dog's interaction with the blanket and the reward varies. Sometimes the treat is given after three seconds, sometimes after ten seconds and sometimes immediately. Your dog learns that he will eventually get a reward
